Bustle Wedding - The Meyers

Who: Emily Reid & Jack Meyer

What: Month-of Coordination by Bustle Event Design

Where: St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church & Oak Hill Mansion

When: Saturday, August 21, 2010

Overview:
Emily and Jack met in high school - my high school, to be exact! Emily and I were in the same graduating class at Cathedral High School (Indianapolis, Indiana), while Jack was one grade above us. I was extremely honored when Emily hired me as her month-of wedding coordinator. Emily was the perfect bride. Laid-back and caring... she focused on what was really important: marrying her sweetheart (and not freaking out over tulle and place cards). Emily's family was amazing to work with, as well. Correction: Emily's family was INCREDIBLE to work with! The Reid family is so kind and supportive. The Meyer family is just as great. Emily & Jack are so lucky!

Can I just say - What a crazy bridal party!!! These ladies and gents were the life of the party. Not a dull moment to be had. :)

More Pics: Abby + Rafik!

Even though Abby + Rafik are almost three months happily married, I feel the need to share more pictures from their wedding day.

{Source of all pictures in this post from Lemongrass Photography's amazing blog!}

Above: Abby + Rafik had an Egyptian Coptic wedding ceremony, which was extremely beautiful and full of cultural traditions.

Above: The couple's reception was held at the Indianapolis Zoo's Dolphin Gallery, which was the perfect setting for Abby + Rafik's peacock color palette! Floral design was done by Posh Petals, who were amazingly creative and fun to work with. Abby decided florals was a "splurge" item, so we really went all-out with centerpieces! Catering and linens were provided by Centerplate Catering.

Above: Abby + Rafik's beautiful cake was created by Classic Cakes. I love how there was no need for a cake topper because the top layer was shaped like a pretty, blooming rose.

Above: Another highlight of the night (in addition to the dolphin show, live animal greeting and photobooth) was Erica Dominguez's flamenco performance. Rafik and Abby went on a trip to Spain when they were dating and fell in love with flamenco music and dancing, and Abby surprised Rafik by hiring FlamencOle! to perform. It was a blast. Erica is a fabulous performer and involved all of the guests.

Above: One last picture that perfectly captures the love between Abby + Rafik... It was such a pleasure working with them and helping them plan their amazing wedding day.

Bustle Wedding - The Johnsons

Who: Brittany & Brian Johnson

What: Partial Wedding Planning & Coordination

Where: Franklin College

When: November 28, 2009

{Bride + groom! Source: Indy Photo Booths}

Brian & Brittany had such a lovely wedding day! The weather was a gorgeous as could be on a November day - slightly chilly, but the sun was out and the sky was beautiful. Brittany looked absolutely amazing in her dress - and Brian looked extraordinarily handsome in his ivory tux. The colors for their wedding were chocolate brown and pale yellow.

The ceremony was held in Custer Theater in the Old Main building on the Franklin College campus, where both the bride and groom went to college. The reception was a short walk away to the Napolitan Student Center. On the second floor Branigin Room, dinner was served buffet-style, and then dancing and festivities were all held on the first floor in the atrium.

Emily, my most favorite sister/assistant, was there the entire night to help with anything and everything! We even had a chance to hop in the photobooth:

Abby & Rafik: Wedding Highlights

Long time, no blog! With a new job and Bustle's wedding season in high-gear, I've been such a slacker.

Abby & Rafik's wedding was on October 31, 2009, and was absolutely fabulous. I worked with them to plan their wedding from scratch in about 6 months. It. Was. Awesome. Abby was so creative and wanted to pack tons of details into their wedding - it ended up being spectacular.

Fabulous Outdoor Decor Idea

Per usual, I was browsing some blogs this morning when I happened across this picture (taken by super-fab Amelia Lyon):

How perfect would it be to do a photoshoot in a field of colorful balloons??!

This is a great idea for any outdoor occasion - little kids' birthday parties, grown-up birthday parties, heck - ANY party!

Sweet Details!

Of course, Martha Stewart showcases only the coolest of the cool weddings, and I'm so glad I saw pics from this fun-loving wedding! [I know I've seen these pics before at some time in my life, but was reminded of them after viewing Ritzy Bee's blog...]

I'm in total love with the color palette, by the way...

How great are these placecards?? The couple created a unique button pin for each of their guests (that must have taken a while!!), attached them to some folded cream cardstock & their guests could wear the buttons around all night! Fun!

This guestbook idea is so cute. They provided little envelopes stuck to each page of the guestbook for guests to slip little notes inside of... and then seal them up with simple little stickers! I'm thinking of using all of the colors in this photo as paint chips for my entire house... so cool and calming!

Lastly, their cupcake stand is just too adorable. Understated and simple... sometimes the best way to go, in my book!

Bright Pops of Color

I have admired this New York State wedding for over a month and have yet to post about it... since I've got some spare time today, I just had to pick out a few of my favorite photos. The details and cheery colors are so amazing!

{Credit: I discovered this wedding on Design*Sponge's blog and all images were found on frecklegirl76's Flickr page}
Ceremony location... Pomanders are the cutest floral arrangements ever. I love them as aisle-liners, too.
You all know by now how much I love paper lanterns... and I'm starting to prefer long tables over round tables for receptions...
A beautiful rendition of the branch-seating-card display... Check out that calligraphy! I wish I could have splurged on having all of my paper items done by a calligrapher. It just adds a very distinct touch of personalization to everything!
Favors for guests: Homemade syrups with funky cloth squares covering the lids...
Table setting... Totally love the "groom" tag pinned to the glass. I did this for my Thanksgiving table setting!
Table numbers & menu... the turquoise ink really pops against the soft orange of the dahlia. Speaking of the dahlia: who says a centerpiece has to be elaborate and consist of tons of flowers?? The tiny tree trunks and clear glass vase for the bunch of flowers get the job done simply and (probably) cost-effectively!
This wedding is just beautiful!! I absolutely ADORE all of the personal touches.

Assisting Circle City Planners

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to assist Darcie, an ABC Bridal Consultant and planner for Circle City Planners, with the set up and coordination of one of their largest weddings of the year at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in downtown Indianapolis. I was so honored to help and tried to soak up as much knowledge from Darcie as I could ~ she was so knowledgable about everything. Although set up was laborious and long, I absolutely loved seeing the plain ballroom transform into the vintage-glam setting that was the couple's wedding reception. For some pictures of the event and Darcie's take on the entire day, head on over to Circle City Planners' blog post.

Friday (set up)
Darcie taught me how to tie bows with chair sashes and schooled me on which linen dimensions go with which table sizes. All afternoon, we slipped on chair covers, tied chair sashes, arranged tableclothes & overlays, folded napkins, placed favor cards... my back and feet were aching at the end of the day, but MAN did that room look amazing!!!

Saturday (wedding day!)
I arrived at Scottish Rite four hours before the wedding and helped Darcie finish setting up the ballroom and South lounge (where cocktail hour was held). Another assistant, Christina, showed up and Darcie delegated tasks for the rest of the evening. I steamed bridesmaid dresses, tied more sashes, pinned bridesmaid bras to dresses to prevent slippage, attempted to pin corsages (Christina had to fix my work and taught me a neat "taco" technique for pinning them correctly), corralled groomsmen so they weren't walking all over the cathedral (and risking the groom seeing the bride), signaled soloists to begin singing during the ceremony, helped guests find their tables at the reception, led children to the babysitter's room, and whatever else Darcie wanted me to do! It was non-stop action and the entire night seemed perfect!

The bride & groom were SO. HAPPY. Their families were happy. Their guests were happy. And that's all that matters!

Real Wedding: Ashley & Chris

As promised, here are some detail pictures of Ashley & Chris' reception decor... You'll have to forgive me because I only took pictures of the seating card display and the results of the candy bar buffet (not the candy bar itself), and my camera takes pretty awful pictures with the flash on (I think someone should buy me a new camera for Christmas!). But I think you'll get the idea and see how great everything looked!

Here is the seating card display:

There were 3 glass vases filled with clear glass stones at the bottom. Branches were arranged in each vase, and the seating cards were hung from the branches (in alphabetical order, as best as I could!).

Since each vase arrangement held a certain group of placecards according to the guest's last name, Ashley created signs to tell guests where to look for their placecard.
Ashley & Chris' guestbook was a custom-made album with their engagement pictures inside. This was such a great idea and the guests loved seeing their professional pics!

Here is a picture of my husband holding our candy bar favor... Pink and green were the couple's wedding colors, and the candy bar was filled with around 10 different pink & green candies! [Doesn't TR's tie match their candy perfectly?!]

And here's a picture of the newlyweds!!
